World Cup Groups – the Soccer Goal Safari is Almost Upon Us
Well after all the excitement, and a fair amount of controversy, the draw for the FIFA World Cup group stages has now been done. Ireland, after the “Hand of Henry” incident put in an official complaint to FIFA, arguing that Ireland should be let into the group stages as a 33rd team. Unfortunately, this call was rejected and the tournament goes on without them.
So next summer the soccer goal safari begins, with big games and the most coveted trophy in world soccer: the FIFA World Cup. Here are the eight groups for the initial stage of the competition:
